The tsunami that was predicted to hit Hawaii turned out not so bad—three to six feet of waves. Weather guys and geologists say it’s because the usual tide was going out while the tsunami was coming in and the oscillations disbursed the energy. So the waves lasted awhile and the waters were rough and dangerous (what a normal tide does over six hours, the tsunami waves were doing in three minutes), but not on the scale it might have been. Relief.
