At the risk of sounding like a total Negative Nancy, I feel the need to vent a little.
So today should have been a nice, easy day. We weren’t busy at work, so I cut out early to go home. Yay! But before I left, I chatted with one of the night shifters who said she thought she saw a dog in someone’s car in the parking lot. I was on my way out anyway and was all, ‘I’ll take a look before I go.’
Someone had their dog in their car. No windows cracked, no food or water with what looked like the set of keys for the car (had the remote door clicker and large key usually for starting the car) sitting on the dash of the locked car (because I did try all the doors, no dice). There was a dog bed sitting on the passenger seat, so they had the courtesy to let the dog asphyxiate or dehydrate in a doggie bed. And if it’s not enough of a douche move to leave your dog in a locked car with all the windows rolled up, no food or water all day, they also had parked in the handicap stall, no tags.
I of course got the license plate, make and model and reported it to my supervisor who said he’d send out an email office-wide and if it wasn’t taken care of, he’d call the cops being as it’s, you know. ILLEGAL. Not to mention a dog might die.
And I can’t get over how whoever did this thought it through enough to go, ‘I should give him/her a place to sleep,’ but not enough to think, ‘Gee, Fido might like some water. Or maybe even some AIR.’
I just can’t. No. Will call super in a mo, make sure it was taken care of while I was away and try an enjoy the rest of my day.
