Life-Altering Decisions
Apr. 10th, 2012 07:34 pmHey, you guys, you guys guess what? I have made a huge decision, one that will change my whole life:
Contacts!
Yes, I bought regular glasses too. Lemme assure you, my eye-wires are sweet and nerdy. But contacts.
My eyesight has progressed into astigmatism, which would be why the old glasses weren't cutting it and I couldn't see road signs from a distance at night. The doctor was fantastic, shocked though she was that I'd never had contacts before. The rest of my appointment and search for glasses was a litany of, "You know who you look like?" with these tallies:
Christine Chenoweth: 1
Reese Witherspoon: 3
Christine Chenoweth is a surprising new one and very flattering! It was the ophthalmologist who said so, added that I sounded like her, too. (Er, to all of those who've not heard my voice, I don't, not even a little, but flattering!). I told her my favorite song was "Taylor, the Latte Boy." She'd never heard the song, so I sang the opening and first chorus and had the doctor in stitches. (That is a BRILLIANT song, go find it if you've not heard it!). Putting in my contacts was hard. Took me forever. Aaaaand everrrrrr. Taking them out? First time, done and done. Finding glasses took longer because my prescription is so strong I have to make sure the lenses will fit the frames. The lady who got me started told me to make sure the sides were long, which I did. What she didn't mention was that I couldn't do ones with certain nose pieces and not the half-frames. So when I came back after trying on just about every piece in the store, she was all, "Uh, sorry, none of these will work". This time she went with me and helped me find a batch. Found an excellent one! Because my vision is gawdawful, my lenses will be special-ordered. In 10 days to 3 weeks, I will have my new pair of glasses, wheeeee!
(I wonder if there are any job openings for a short Reese Witherspoon look-alike)
